Cellocity

Beginner Method for Cello

Helga wrote Cellocity as a compendium of teaching cello and cello pedagogy for over 50 years.  Cellocity is a free, introductory cello method with beginning pieces in the lower positions and thumb position.  It can be used in any order and combined with any other beginning cello method.

What distinguishes Cellocity from other methods is that it favors the natural position of the bow arm on the lower strings and uses many natural harmonics to emphasize the lightness and mobility of the left hand. The thumb position pieces are both in treble and tenor clef to encourage reading in both.

Renowned cellist and educator, Helga Winold, spent years researching the biomechanics of movement providing her with ways to teach cello technique that respect both the instrument and the cellist. From bow strokes to shifting, her video class covers everything a cellist needs to know on their playing journey regardless of their level.
